The past few months have been crazy. I expected them to be busy, but not to the point where I just couldn’t finish things! I have been working on the media kit for The Hunt, and should be ready to send it to the publisher today. The Media Kit includes a full synopsis of the book (spoilers, ending and all), summaries of various lengths for web and print publication, author bios of various lengths, a list of all my social media locations, and Q&As about the book. I also have been working on The Streets off and on, mostly for my own sanity 😉 Hopefully, we’ll have a release date and cover to share soon. We’re still good for 2019, but I don’t have anything more solid than that right now.
Rodcon was fantastic – more successful than we ever could have dreamed! We met a lot of really cool people and I nearly sold out of The Dark AND stuffed animals. We’ll definitely be back again, UNI!
I went to DemiCon this year as a panelist and discussed dystopian, apocalyptic, and post-apocalyptic stories. The panel was a lot of fun, and pretty encouraging to myself as a writer since I do apparently know what I’m writing about. I also read the beginning of The Hunt aloud at DemiCon, so there was a handful of people that got a super sneak peek at what’s coming!
Those tasks, combined with my husband traveling for work, a new niece arriving (and the shower to welcome her), and cleaning all the baby stuff out of my house since my toddler potty-trained herself, have kept me very busy. We have two conventions coming up that I’m attending just as an attendee, plus a week-long visit from the in-laws, so just cleaning and prepping in general for those events is still keeping me busy. I’m glad The Hunt is done, otherwise, there would be no movement on the book front!
I’ll be in Dubuque this weekend for the Local Author Fair at the Carnegie Stout Public Library from 12-4:30pm Saturday the 15th, signing books and talking to people. I’ll be presenting a panel with Erin Casey on how to market your books at 12:45pm. It’s free, so come check it out if you’re in the area!
The Shield will be going to the next round of early readers in July, and we’re working on the schedule for The Hunt! I’m also about 150 pages into The Streets. Things may be busy, but I’m still making some progress!
